Founded in 1816 by a small group of women in Strawbery Banke committed to feeding the families of fishermen, Gather's legacy is a powerful one. For over 200 years, our Seacoast community has rallied around friends and neighbors at food risk, striving for a hunger-free community.
Unfortunately, hunger is an intractable problem and Gather's mission endures. We are asking you to join us, be a part of history, and support the Gather Gala to end hunger.
Between on-going COVID issues, increased utility costs and skyrocketing food prices, the needs of our community are growing and our fundraising efforts need to keep up.
- In 2021, Gather served 70,621 individuals, and 94,629 in 2022.
- Gather distributed almost 1.6 million pounds of food in 2022 for residents living in 55 Greater Seacoast towns.
- The Meals 4 Kids (M4K) program serves nearly 500 children weekly via mobile markets from Portsmouth to Rochester to Seabrook.
- The Cooking 4 Community (C4C) program prepares over 800 meals each week.
- Our member demographic comprises families, single parents, grandparents, bundled homes (many families under one roof), people who are unhoused, veterans, neighbors with mental and/or physical challenges, seniors, neighbors who are chronically and or temporarily ill or unemployed or underemployed.
Gather is challenged with raising funds to keep its pantries stocked, and its mobile markets equipped and supplied.
To this end, Gather is proud to host its Gala fundraising event at Odiorne State Park in Rye. Please join us for an evening of music, food and beverages as we gather hundreds of community leaders, philanthropists, and friends to raise awareness and funds to help Gather continue its vital legacy and mission.
